Welcome

I started this blog in 2010 when there were 11 weeks to go before my next Ironman triathlon. People have found it interesting (mainly my Mum!) so I continue to write.
The Ironman is a long distance triathlon; Swim 2.4miles, Cycle 112miles, Run 26.2 miles (marathon). I have competed in one every year since 2004. I hope this blog can help others see what is involved. I find the process of writing it makes me more accountable and motivates me to do the harder sessions when i'm not feeling like it!

Rollers 45min

GI upset continued in the morning - wanted to do something so a very easy spell on the rollers. The big debate is whether to stay up for the England Italy match. There's a triathlon club (SYtri) 50-60mile cycle tomorrow which is on the cards.

Rest

Came home from work and hand major GI upset (I won't be too graphic). Ella's had it all week and I thought i'd escaped.

Run

5km - not so bad. I've got some cycling of the feet coming back - the right had gone. Still wonky and a bit guilty it's only 5km but I have to work with what i've got.

Rollers 60min

Straight forward, right ITB must be tight, some right knee soreness. Spent most of the session trying to move the right leg like the left (assuming that one is moving correctly!)

Ella ill - more than likely I will catch it.

Weigh in 69.7Kg

Swim 3.1km

1.5km distance, 5 x 250m at 65 strokes a minute on 15 sec rest, cool down.

Bit of left shoulder discomfort, very mild - more things to massage. Otherwise comfortable.
Hope to get a little more serious about it all now. Did this before eating today. Hopefully in the fat burning zone.

6 Weeks to go

60km cycle with the SYtri club

A great ride. The time on the rollers has improved things. The hip is still problematic but it was all manageable. Quick pace that I was just able to hold. Compared to the last outing I didn't run out of steam and if anything settled into it.

Afternoon with the family - more cycling with the cargo bike. That was hard work, they are getting heavy.
