Welcome

I started this blog in 2010 when there were 11 weeks to go before my next Ironman triathlon. People have found it interesting (mainly my Mum!) so I continue to write.
The Ironman is a long distance triathlon; Swim 2.4miles, Cycle 112miles, Run 26.2 miles (marathon). I have competed in one every year since 2004. I hope this blog can help others see what is involved. I find the process of writing it makes me more accountable and motivates me to do the harder sessions when i'm not feeling like it!

Stretch class
45mins

Sauna
30mins (1 break)

I had planned to get on the turbo today - tired so backed off and decided to get an early night. Got a couple of good soakings ferrying the kids around on the bike.

Listened to a good piece of advice on the marathon talk podcast. They said rank all the components of your training, recovery, nutrition, emotional well being etc, on a scale of 1-10. For the 9-10s great, for the 1-5s you will probably do something about. For the 6-8s these should be re-scored as 0! this is because you will probably accept these things and do nothing to address them and this is what ultimately causes the injury etc, this goes for that niggle, family issue or anything else you can think of. Food for thought.
